Time To Shake Off The Rust

The golf course has officially opened for the season and the Mens League will begin at 6pm on Wednesday April 14th.

I was out tonight with several other league members for a fun round of nine holes (OK...I only lasted seven holes) and although the pain will be unbearable tomorrow, it was nice to swing the clubs again.

There was still some snow on the fairway of number 5 and some thick ice on the cart path beside the number 6 tee box but other than that things look great.

You'll also notice if you look behind the 4th green that a Pileated Woodpecker has been busy renovating one of the trees.

Provided the weather remains favourable the course will continue to remain open and we'll be back in action on the 14th of April.

So start using those muscles again and prepare for the season which will be starting soon.

Spring Has Sprung, Golf To Follow Soon

Do you hear that sound? Listen carefully and you might be able to hear the last remnants of snow melting and the grass on the golf course coming back to life.

That's right, it won't be long now and the long winter break will be over and once again we'll find ourselves searching in the woods for our golf balls.

I haven't received any official notice on when the course will open or how soon after the Mens League will begin but I think it's a safe bet that if the weather remains sunny and warm, we'll be on the links sooner rather than later. I did hear that there was still plenty of the white stuff hanging on around on the more secluded holes but once that's gone we should be good to go.

So polish up your clubs, clean your balls, practice your excuses and you'll be ready to get swinging and use those rested muscles once we get the go ahead.
