Holy Heatwave Batman!

Far be it for me to complain about the heat but holy guacamole that was a scorcher tonight. Add in the local insects and it made for a tough round of golf.

The sauna-like conditions didn't affect Andy Koetstra as he came close to tying the Individual Low Gross. He missed his last putt for the tie but still posted an impressive even par round of 27.

Meanwhile in the evenings matches the Southpaws moved to within two points of the first place Rolling Stones after the Stones were shutout. Taking all six points in their rounds tonight were the Fat Shafts, KGB and Latecomers. The Wedgers earned five points while the Southpaws and Fivesome took four points each. The CCCP and Whizbangers grabbed a pair of points while a single point went to the Hackers.

The Closest to the Pin winners were Jim Turner on hole #6 while Don Muldoon stuck it tight on hole #15. The 50/50 winner was Kory Hietala.

Stones Nearing Century Mark

It's still a battle at the top of the standings between the Rolling Stones and the Southpaws.
Kevin Wadsworth is dialed in on hole #16.
The Stones are closing in on the 100 points mark for the season while the Southpaws remain within striking distance of the lead should they falter.

Both teams continued their winning ways on Wednesday night as they swept their matches. Also taking all six points up for grabs were the Dubbers. The Whizbangers took five points, the Fivesome and KGB earned four, the Fat Shafts and Hackers took two while the Wedgers earned a single point.

Taking the Closest to the Pin honours tonight were Jim Conley on hole #5 and Kyle Wilkinson on hole #14. The 50/50 winner was David Swartz.

See you Wednesday night.

Something In The Air

It might have been the cooler temperatures or the pauses between swings to swat bugs but whatever it was, it was one of those nights for many where it just felt right. Several players, myself included, came close to getting aces while others were just hitting the ball well, Whatever the reason, lets hope it continues and everyone plays well down the stretch.

On this evening, all but one match was a sweep. Taking all six points up for grabs were the Fat Shafts, Rolling Stones, Southpaws, KGB and Whizbangers. The Bogies earned four points while the Wedgers took two.

The Closest to the Pin winners were Ryan Cuculuzzi on hole #4 and Benny Brock on hole #13. The 50/50 winner this week was Peter Hughes.

Sorry no photos or videos again this week. I was in the zone and forgot.

Sixes Were Wild

Sorry I'm a little late with the update guys. I'm busy busy busy these days. But better late than never.

It was a beautiful night for golf this week. It was so nice in fact that I think every mosquito in Wooler decided to feast on the course like seniors at an early bird special buffet in Florida. I'm still scratching and hearing the buzzing in my ears.

In between swatting and swearing we were able to get in our round and on this night sixes were wild as every match was swept. I think that might be a first this season. Taking all six points up for grabs were the Fat Shafts, Rolling Stones, Wedgers, Southpaws, Hackers and Latecomers.

The Closest to the Pin winners were Mark Kennedy on hole #3 and Matt Couperus on hole #12. The 50/50 winner was Art Mansfield.

Big Points Night

After three weeks of playing for 12 points, next week we'll return to the usual six point matches.
A passing shower left a nice rainbow behind tonight.
For some teams that will be a welcome sight as other teams took full advantage of the double point rounds.

All but one of the matches tonight were sweeps as the mosquitoes didn't hurt some games even if they did leave their mark on a lot of us.

Taking all 12 points up for grabs were the Southpaws, Wedgers, Bogies, Dubbers and Rolling Stones. The KGB earned 10 points while the Hackers grabbed two.

The Closest to the Pin winners this week were Paul Scobie on hole #2 and on hole # 11 it was Peter Hughes. This weeks 50/50 winner was Tom St. Denis.
