Whizbangers Have Strong Night

Was this week two or week four. I'm confused after the late start and the rain out last week. Either way, tonight was a cool but clear and comfortable night for golf after the rain washed out last weeks round.

The Whizbangers obviously enjoyed the conditions as they turned in a strong effort and posted the new Team Low Gross with an 88.
Andy Koetstra sinks his putt on hole 13.
They also took the six points up for grabs in their match. Other teams taking all six points in their matches were the Hackers, Dubbers, Southpaws and Bogies who upset the Rolling Stones. The Fat Shafts took four points from the KGB who earned two.

Len Bosma had a strong individual effort tonight as he set the new low for Individual Low Gross by shooting a 27.

The Closest to the Pin winners were Coady MacGillvary on hole #2 while Brian Moelker saved his best shot for the last hole to grab closest on hole #11. The 50/50 winner was Jim Rogers.
Barry Defosse gets out of trouble on hole 17.

18 Holes - Week One

Despite a recent sighting of a black bear on the golf course our members safely completed their first 18-hole round relatively unscathed.

Congratulations to Al Wilkinson who used a pitching wedge to ace the 143 yard ninth hole for the leagues first hole-in-one of the year. Nice shooting Al!

With a possible 12 points up for grabs and the standings being so close for some teams the 18 hole nights are an excellent chance to make a move. Seizing the opportunity tonight were the CCCP who blanked the Hackers and vaulted out of last place to move into eighth. The Fat Shafts were the only other team to take all 12 points at the expense of the Fivesome.

While the Wedgers continue to enjoy a comfortable lead, the battle for second is still anyone's race at this point with only three points separating second from fifth.

Sandy McLeod had a good nine hole round of even par 27 which moved him into a tie for the Individual Low Gross with Norm Toyne.

The closest to the pin winners for the night were Doug Stewart on hole #9 and Brian Moelker on hole #18. Dennis Schick took home the 50/50 winnings.
