A Change at the Top

It was a warm and sunny night for golf. The conditions would have been perfect had it not been for the black flies and mosquitoes swarming and sampling us.

The top teams continue to keep things crowded near the top of the standings. The Fat Shafts took advantage of some help by the Dubbers to move into sole possession of top spot for the first time in many years.

Three teams swept their matches as the Fat Shafts, Latecomers and Rolling Stones all took six points. The Bogies came close with five and the Fivesome and Southpaws each earned four points. Taking two points each were the Whizbangers and the Dubbers while CCCP grabbed a single point.

Rick Dean tied his leading Individual Low Gross score by shooting another 26 tonight. I was also informed that Jim Conley had an impressive recovery on hole 17. After putting his tee shot in the pond he proceeded to hit from the red blocks and holed out for par. The Closest to the Pin winners were Dave Reid on hole #6 and Josh McDonald on hole #15. The 50/50 winner was Don Muldoon.

Now That Was A Nice Night

No mosquitoes, no black flies, no strong winds and best of all...no rain. The conditions were so ideal for our round of golf tonight I had to double check to make sure it was actually Wednesday.

Everyone seemed to have a good time as we played just nine holes from the blue tees as we made up a lost round from earlier in the season.

OK, maybe not everyone had a good time. Dan Jess of the Fat Shafts might have be been grumbling a bit after he sent his tee shot on hole 10 into the parking lot. Luckily nobody was injured and no vehicles were damaged this time according to Dan who had his playing partners in stitches. Not real stitches...just lots of laughing. Good thing Dan can take a ribbing because he got a lot of it after the round.

The KGB, Dubbers, Rolling Stones and Wedgers all took 6 points while the Fivesome earned 5, the Whizbangers 4, Southpaws 2 and a single point went to the CCCP.

Jerry Powell was Closest to the Pin on hole #2 while Marty MacDonald stuck it close on hole #11. John VanValls took home the 50/50 prize.

Have a great Canada Day long weekend guys and we'll see you next Wednesday.

And......We're Off

Welcome back guys!

The Mens League has officially kicked off and tomorrow morning I'm sure many of you will be in a bit of pain as we worked a few muscles that have been resting peacefully for the last 6 months or so.

It was a beautiful April evening to start things off with little to no bugs and great course conditions.

Five teams started strong sweeping all six points (CCCP, Rolling Stones, Southpaws, Whizbangers & Wedgers) while the Fat Shafts earned four points and the Bogies took two.

The bar was set for the Team Low Gross as the Southpaws shot 95.

Meanwhile three players tied for the Individual Low Gross as Andy Koetstra, Bob Harvey and Norm Toyne shot 30's

The 50/50 was won by John VanValls and it is unknown who won the Closest To The Pin honours.
