I don't think we could have had a much better day to play our final 18 holes of the year or a better evening for the wrap-up party. In fact it may have been one of the most comfortable rounds of golf we've had all season.
The meal was excellent once again this year and there was no lack of food or beverages.
There are a few people who deserve our gratitude in helping to make the final day a success. To the ladies who kept us from getting thirsty, tallied up the scores and helped with getting the meal ready, we say thanks to Alida, Lynn and Debbie.
Also thanks to Alida and Tom for another great season at the golf course which was in great shape all year long.
Finally, thanks to Steve Powell for his work behind the scenes. I'm sure many don't notice all that Steve does but the league, playoffs and final party wouldn't go nearly as well without his efforts.
The season went by too quickly but it was another fun year golfing with everyone. If anyone is still interested, we usually keep golfing on Wednesday nights as long as we can so feel free to come out and take part in some scramble or cross-country action. The start time usually changes to around 5:30 as the sun is setting a lot sooner.
For the rest of you, have a safe Autumn and Winter and we'll see you on the links again in the Spring.

2010 Playoffs - Day One Results
The heat and humidity which has been around most of the summer showed up one more time as we began the playoffs. Unlike past years, we played the blue tees to start and will again next Wednesday. The final 18 holes will be played from the white tees on Saturday September 11th starting at 3pm.
The first nine holes were a bit surprising as no teams posted a great total to take a commanding lead in any of the flights. Therefore the battles will get even better next Wednesday. Here are the totals from the first night.

Regular Season Ends
It flew by once again and another season of golf is over. OK, it's not really over but the regular season has been completed and now it's on to the playoffs and the all important wrap-up part on September 13th. For some of us that's all we've had our sights on all season.
For those ready to get down and dirty and battle it out for playoff supremacy, it begins next Wednesday night.
On this night however, the Bogies, Rolling Stones and KGB were the only teams to take all six points.
The Closest to the Pin winners were Jerry Powell on hole #1 and Steve Westlake on hole #10. The 50/50 winner was Len Bosma.

Ahhhhhhhhh...Much Nicer
Now that's what I'm talking about!
Finally after suffering for several weeks the heat finally gave us a break and we enjoyed a much more comfortable night of golf. However, for some of us, this didn't translate into better scoring. I won't name names...we know who we are. :-)
Four teams swept all six points in their matches. These teams were the CCCP, Whizbangers, Southpaws and Hackers.
Andrew Donovan stuck one close on hole #9 to take the front nine Closest to the Pin prize. Kyle Wilkinson was closest on hole #18. This weeks 50/50 winner was Mark Lafee.
We have one more week of regular season play before we start the playoffs on September 1st. Don't forget the final 18 holes and party will take place on Saturday September 11th.

Donaldson Does It Again
It would seem that Tim Donaldson didn't enjoy sharing the Individual Low Gross with Steve Westlake at -2 (25) so tonight he turned in another very impressive round of -3 (24) to take sole possession of the honour. Congratulations on the great round Tim.
Four teams swept all six points from their opponents tonight. They included the Southpaws, Fat Shafts, Wedgers and Dubbers. The Bogies and KGB took five points each. With their six points tonight, the Southpaws became the first team to break 100 points on the season with 103.
The Closest to the Pin winners were Andy Koetstra on hole #8 and Ron MacDonald on #17. Matt Couperus was this weeks 50/50 winner.

Humid Enough For Ya?
I don't like to complain about the heat especially when i despise winter so much but enough is enough already! It was another hot, humid and sweltering evening on the course with it feeling like 40 degrees when we started and it only got hotter after the light rain stopped and the sun came out.
The good news for some of us was that we came in a lot lighter and wetter than when we started.
Teams taking all six points tonight included the Bogies, Whizbangers, Southpaws and Fat Shafts. The Latecomers and Wedgers each took four points.
The 50/50 winner tonight was Steve Powell. Zeroing in on the Closest to the Pin holes were Mark Kennedy on hole #7 and Tim Donaldson on hole #16.

Storms Miss But Rain Hits
The storms moved out in time but at least one torrential ten minutes of rain managed to soak the golfers tonight. On the bright side it cooled us down for about five minutes before the humidity kicked in again.
Sorry guys but I had to leave before everyone had made it off the course so no update this week to the standings yet. Hopefully I'll get it done before next week...but don't count on it. I do know that Jim Conley won the 50/50 this week.
Have a good weekend and see you next Wednesday.

Blue Tees Play Tough
The play from the blue tees proved to be a challenge tonight for many. The distance combined with some stiff breezes made for some challenging holes and in some cases some higher scores than normal.
The Rolling Stones, Latecomers, Wedgers, Hackers and KGB all took six points while the Dubbers grabbed four from the CCCP.
The Closest to the Pin prizes were won by Kim Defosse (#5) and Nick Vangemeren (#14). Andy Koetstra grabbed the 50/50 prize.
