Blues Prove Tough

Judging by the scores posted tonight, it seems the long blue tees combined with some breezy conditions, made for some less than stellar shooting tonight for many.
Mark Lafee launches his ball towards the 14th green.
Even your humble blog host posted an epic score of which we will never speak of again.

By no means can we blame those scores on the course conditions as the greens were quick and looking in great shape. Hats off to Tom and the crew for their hard work during this damp Spring. But Summer is finally here and hopefully that will bring more sunshine and warmer temps.

In the evenings matches, the Fivesome, CCCP, Wedgers and Bogies all took six points. The Southpaws and KGB grabbed four each while the Latecomers and Fat Shafts managed two points.

The Closest to the Pin winners this week were Marsh Ferguson on hole #9 and Kevin Wadsworth on hole #18. Lyle Williams was this weeks 50/50 winner.

Stones Move Into First

The scores were a bit higher overall tonight however that didn't stop the Rolling Stones from taking advantage of their head to head match up against the Southpaws. The Stones moved into the first place all alone as they swept the match. This should be an interesting battle to watch all season.

The rest of the teams near the top of the standings continue to put up good scores and grab points making for a very tight leader board at this point in the season.
Dave Wharry tees off on Hole 12.
Just six points separate seventh spot from the second place spot.

In the matches for the evening, every group was all or nothing as the Dubbers, Fat Shafts, KGB, Rolling Stones, Wedgers, Bogies and Fivesome took six points. The low team gross for the evening was turned in by the Dubbers and KGB who each shot 94. Three players shot under 30 this week as Jerry Powell, Steve Guindon and Mark Lafee each posted a 29.

The Closest to the Pin winners this week were Mike Morey on hole #6 and Mark Kennedy on hole #15. The 50/50 winner was Dave Wharry.

Ahhhhhhhhh...Much Nicer

Now that's what I'm talking about!

Finally after suffering for several weeks the heat finally gave us a break and we enjoyed a much more comfortable night of golf. However, for some of us, this didn't translate into better scoring. I won't name names...we know who we are. :-)

Four teams swept all six points in their matches. These teams were the CCCP, Whizbangers, Southpaws and Hackers.

Andrew Donovan stuck one close on hole #9 to take the front nine Closest to the Pin prize. Kyle Wilkinson was closest on hole #18. This weeks 50/50 winner was Mark Lafee.

We have one more week of regular season play before we start the playoffs on September 1st. Don't forget the final 18 holes and party will take place on Saturday September 11th.
