Sadly the weather has continued to be less than impressive recently and as a result, the matches for tonight have been cancelled.
With all of the rain we had today, the cold temperatures and potential for flurries this evening it was decided that we'd be better off skipping this weeks rounds.
Hopefully the weather improves for next week.
The league consists of 12 teams playing each Wednesday night between April and September. Tee time is 6:00 PM. The home course is Murray Hills Golf Club located in Wooler, Ontario.

Wet Start To Season
The weather was wet on Wednesday night but at least it wasn't white as well as we kicked off the league for another year.
The dampness kept some away but they missed out on what was actually an enjoyable night for golf as the rain was mostly light and had little effect on the play.
Five teams got off to a strong start taking six points each.
The low scorers for the night were Dennis Schick and Rick Dean, each shooting a 29.
Kyle Wilkinson had an impressive shot on hole #1 to earn the Closest to the Pin honours while Dave Walker zeroed in on hole #10. Mark Kennedy was the first 50/50 winner of the season.

Ready, Set, Go
I hope you have your clubs ready to go because the league is set to begin on Wednesday April 13th. As usual we tee off at 6pm.
Don't forget to pay your league dues that night as well so Steve doesn't have to go chasing after anybody down the road.
The forecast is looking good so far so we'll see you there. If you're like me you'll probably need to have a bag full of balls. That first round is always the toughest.

Ahhhhh Spring!
We did it! Yes we made it through another long, cold, snowy and sometimes miserable winter in Canada. Well, those of us who stayed here did. To those who found time to get away and find some warmth and sunshine, I hope you had a nice respite from the wind chills and frostbite.
Here it is mid March and although we could still see some of the white stuff, it won't be long and we'll be dusting off the clubs and shaking off the rust from our bones and hitting the links once again.
No official word of course as to when the Mens League will try to get going at this point but if all goes well and the snow on the tree sheltered holes melts in time I would suspect sometime in early to mid April we could be back into the swing of swings.
Of course, as always Mother Nature has the final say on things.
So in the meantime, start to get those rested muscles limbered up again and we'll be seeing you soon.

2010 Playoffs - Final Results
I don't think we could have had a much better day to play our final 18 holes of the year or a better evening for the wrap-up party. In fact it may have been one of the most comfortable rounds of golf we've had all season.
The meal was excellent once again this year and there was no lack of food or beverages.
There are a few people who deserve our gratitude in helping to make the final day a success. To the ladies who kept us from getting thirsty, tallied up the scores and helped with getting the meal ready, we say thanks to Alida, Lynn and Debbie.
Also thanks to Alida and Tom for another great season at the golf course which was in great shape all year long.
Finally, thanks to Steve Powell for his work behind the scenes. I'm sure many don't notice all that Steve does but the league, playoffs and final party wouldn't go nearly as well without his efforts.
The season went by too quickly but it was another fun year golfing with everyone. If anyone is still interested, we usually keep golfing on Wednesday nights as long as we can so feel free to come out and take part in some scramble or cross-country action. The start time usually changes to around 5:30 as the sun is setting a lot sooner.
For the rest of you, have a safe Autumn and Winter and we'll see you on the links again in the Spring.
Here now are the Final Playoff Standings including the final day totals.

2010 Playoffs - Day One Results
The heat and humidity which has been around most of the summer showed up one more time as we began the playoffs. Unlike past years, we played the blue tees to start and will again next Wednesday. The final 18 holes will be played from the white tees on Saturday September 11th starting at 3pm.
The first nine holes were a bit surprising as no teams posted a great total to take a commanding lead in any of the flights. Therefore the battles will get even better next Wednesday. Here are the totals from the first night.

Regular Season Ends
It flew by once again and another season of golf is over. OK, it's not really over but the regular season has been completed and now it's on to the playoffs and the all important wrap-up part on September 13th. For some of us that's all we've had our sights on all season.
For those ready to get down and dirty and battle it out for playoff supremacy, it begins next Wednesday night.
On this night however, the Bogies, Rolling Stones and KGB were the only teams to take all six points.
The Closest to the Pin winners were Jerry Powell on hole #1 and Steve Westlake on hole #10. The 50/50 winner was Len Bosma.

Ahhhhhhhhh...Much Nicer
Now that's what I'm talking about!
Finally after suffering for several weeks the heat finally gave us a break and we enjoyed a much more comfortable night of golf. However, for some of us, this didn't translate into better scoring. I won't name names...we know who we are. :-)
Four teams swept all six points in their matches. These teams were the CCCP, Whizbangers, Southpaws and Hackers.
Andrew Donovan stuck one close on hole #9 to take the front nine Closest to the Pin prize. Kyle Wilkinson was closest on hole #18. This weeks 50/50 winner was Mark Lafee.
We have one more week of regular season play before we start the playoffs on September 1st. Don't forget the final 18 holes and party will take place on Saturday September 11th.
